This site contains several interviews with Steina and Woody Vasulka speaking about their early work and artistic practice, their philosophies, The Kitchen (NYC), and the exhibitions 'Machine Media' (1996-97) at the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the making of 'The Brotherhood' at the NTT InterCommunications Center, Tokyo, Japan (1998).
The videos collected here were shot by Aaron S. Davidson and have been compiled and edited by Melissa Dubbin.
The videos were shot in 1996, 1997 and 1998.
Steina describes early video feedback experiments and Automation House, a New York City venue that was an early model and source of audiences for The Kitchen, where La Monte Young was the first performer.
